(Game played on November 24, 1957)

Jesuit joined De La Salle, Redemptorist and Aloysius in the four-way tie for the Catholic school championship Sunday at City Park by defeating Holy Cross in their homecoming, 12-0.  The game was played in the rain and a quagmire of mud.

The four teams will share the Catholic title as quadruple champions, but will play off to determine who will go into the state playoffs.

The Blue Jays went well in the mud.  They gained on the ground as well as in the air.  The Jesuit ground offensive accounted for 179 yards.  They scored on one long run and through the air.

Holy Cross didn't do too well, their running game held to 71 yards and to 27 yards on three completed passes.

All of the scoring came in the second period.

Jackie Boasberg scored on a 61-yard run and Larry Ward tallied on a pass from Freddy Schwartz.  The play netted 16 yards.

Darryl Massey and Bobby Boasberg paced the Jesuit defensive play with Mike Hudson also taking part in the fine play of the Jesuit line.

The top ground gainer for the Jays was Jackie Boasberg with 93 yards. Norman Solis with 52...........

.......at the Holy Cross 47-yard line, but the Jays were guilty of clipping at the 43-yard line and were penalized 15 yards to their own 42.  From this point the Jays moved down to the Holy Cross 15 as the first period ended.  Mike Rooney's 26-yard run featured the march.

The Jays ran into trouble as the second quarter began and attempted a field goal from the 15-yard line, with Charlie Ducote doing the kicking from the 23 but the kick was short.  Later Williams punted to Schwartz at the 35 and Freddy returned it to the 39.  On the first play, Jackie Boasberg galloped 61 yards to give the Jays a 6-0 lead.

The Jays kicked off to the Tigers who returned it to the 35.  On two plays the Tigers got nine yards and a third failed to gain.  Williams punted to Colon, who returned the ball to the Holy Cross 36.

Jackie Boasberg fumbled on the first play and Michael recovered for the Tigers.  Holy Cross gaining five yards, but on the next play they went backward.  Prieto losing 10 when Bobby Boasberg smeared him.  Guttuso lost three when Bobby Boasberg and Darryl Massey broke through to nail him, and then, on fourth down, Williams was unable to get off a punt due to a bad pass from center, and Jesuit took the ball at the Holy Cross 26-yard line.

With 21 seconds left in the half, Schwartz passed to Larry Ward from the 16 for the second Jesuit touchdown to give the Jays a 12-0 lead.

Schwartz attempted a pass for the extra point but it fell incomplete.

Holy Cross took the opening kickoff of the third period, moving it from their own 37 to the Jesuit five-yard line, where they fumbled and Darryl Massey recovered for the Jays.  Jesuit ran two plays, then Schwartz quick-kicked 45 yards to the Holy Cross 42.  The Tigers ran three plays then Williams punted dead to the Jesuit 26.  The Jays ran two plays, were penalized 15 yards on the third play.  The third period ended one play later.
